What Are You Reading? Falling Down the Rabbit Hole

I have started to realize the major hype about the upcoming movie “Alice In Wonderland,” directed by Tim Burton. It makes me wonder why I haven’t seen anyone reading the Lewis Carroll novel. It must be because the “Twilight” series was super glued to their hands. However, I did find one student, a UC Uptown Campus student with whom I work, who has read the book.

“‘Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland’ was a very interesting book,” he said. “It is enjoyable for children because of its mystic and odd nature and intriguing for adults because of its satirical qualities. Due to the difference of now and when the book was written, during the Victorian era, many of the satirical notes are lost in translation.

“To understand these aspects, a little research is required, but for those not inclined to research, this is still a highly enjoyable book with many complex facets. I would highly recommend it for its intricacies. It is a potential quick read.
