You may see her walking around the campus, always with a smile on her face. But who is she? She’s the Ohio Association of Two-Year Colleges (OATYC) Adjunct Teacher of the Year, Professor Marilyn Simon.Professor Simon has been teaching at RWC for four plus years but has been teaching at UC for twenty plus years at five different colleges: College of Education, College of Evening and Continuing Education, University College, Clermont College, and RWC.
Simon’s award was announced on October 21 at the OATYC annual conference, which was held this year at Lakeland Community College in Kirtland, Ohio.
There were thirty-two nominees. Simon said she was shocked to learn she won the award. “I didn’t expect to win it,” she said. “I am proud and honored to have been chosen to receive this award, but I believe that this accolade is more a reflection of the University of Cincinnati and the surrounding communities than it is of my individual abilities. It is from UC that I received all of my degrees. Rarely, do achievements occur in a vacuum, or as the result of only one person’s efforts. Clearly, this award belongs as much to UC/RWC as it does to me.”
Professor Simon teaches Criminal Justice courses as part of the RWC Department of Behavioral Sciences.
