Study Skills and Reading Center keeps students grounded

Spring has arrived and is in full bloom! Warmer weather and longer days can tempt students to skip class. Losing focus is a common problem during spring quarter. Spending some quality one-on-one time with a study skills tutor can help students regain their concentration and motivation to work toward academic success. Students do not have to be enrolled in a College Study Skills class to work with a tutor. Also, a disappointing test score can throw students off balance. A test review helps them analyze testing errors and compares test scores with preparation strategies.

Once again, our Workshop Solutions series is in full swing. Our May schedule is set and includes our usual topics: organization, goal setting, time management, textbook strategies, note taking, classroom etiquette, problem solving, test preparation, critical thinking, learning style, memory and concentration. In addition, we have added a new workshop titled “Food for Thought,” which discusses diet and learning.
