Winter break is right around the corner. This means the holidays are near, and the need for extra funds to handle the gift list is looming overhead. And unless by magic those holiday troubles are handled, thoughts of seasonal employment are dancing in our heads. Finding seasonal employment is slightly different from searching for your dream job. However, the basics are the same. The Office of Career Services provides a few suggestions to those who may be considering looking for seasonal work.
The first is to dress and think professionally. Business casual is fine; but keep the outfits for the club in the closet.
Second, always bring a one-page resume with references available on a separate sheet in case such information is requested.
Finally, don’t be afraid to network or make cold calls even if you are searching for seasonal or part-time employment. A job landed now may possibly roll over into something better later.
