Poetry month gets super-sized

This year National Poetry Month will be a little longer than usual; RWC’s Seventh Annual Celebration of National Poetry Month will last from April on into May. The celebration begins with the College Student and Employee Poetry contests, both of which have a deadline of Wednesday, April 12. Rules for the contest will be released in the near future, and everyone is encouraged to participate.

There will be a performance of Shakespeare’s “Macbeth,” by the Cincinnati Shakespeare Festival on Wednesday, April 26, from 10 a.m.-noon in the RWC Auditorium, Room 119, Muntz Hall.

Seating for this event will be highly coveted by fans of the bard, but spaces are very limited, and reservations will be required. To reserve a space call Debbie Thomayer at 513-745-5655.

The final event will be a Poetry Cafe on Thursday, May 11, from 6-8 p.m., in the RWC Writing Center, Room 112-I, Muntz Hall.

The event will feature an appearance by poet and performance artist Benjamin Hughes, followed by the Poetry contest awards, free food, and open-mic performances of poetry and music by students, faculty, and staff.

Admission to all the events is free.
