Even though this may seem a little early, because this is the last issue before break, I wanted to discuss the approaching holiday season. I have already begun to rummage around in my head about what I want for Christmas and what I am getting others, but what about the other easily forgotten aspect of the holidays? What about the people we hold dear? These people are important in our lives because they shaped who we are. But where did each facet of our personality arise from? Who gave you your humor or made you compassionate? What about discipline and honesty?
For me, my father has taught me compassion, humor and honesty. He is always helping family members and always telling a joke. He always reminds me to be honest in everything I do. My father makes me want to be a nicer person.
My mother instilled in me to work hard and do the best I possibly can, in all I do. She is a rock for me, always reminding me to be a productive person.
I learned about love and sticking things out from my boyfriend, who I never thought would be back in my life.
From my best friend, I learned about a true meaning of friendship and unconditional support. I cannot live without her.
Last but not least is my aunt from Japan, who spoils me like the grandmother I never knew.
All these people gave me something that I am grateful for and will keep very close to my heart. I would not be who I am today if it were not for them.
My wish is to try and give them something in return, so hopefully what I am writing can be a part of their gifts this Christmas.
I hope that during this holiday season you too will remember those loved ones and cherish them for making you who you are. Oh, and do not forget to tell them you love them. Happy Holidays!
