If you have a radio, it is likely you have heard of Evan and Jeron. “Crazy for This Girl,” the first single from their self titled sophomore album, has been on heavy rotation on every alternative, top forty, and easy listening station since its release in September. With thoughtful lyrics and melodies that have the ability to run through your head for days at a time without driving you crazy, the album “Evan and Jeron” proves to be as attractive as their gorgeous twin faces.Although “From My Head to My Heart” sounds strangely like a song from the “That Thing You Do” soundtrack and may be the weakest song on the album, it has a universal message understood by anyone whose heart and head have disagreed. The album covers the highs and lows of both love and life, and in “Pick Up the Phone” includes a beautifully written plea for answers from a higher being without sounding preachy or trite. It is obvious that Evan and Jeron have experienced what they write and sing about, and they possess a true talent for expressing their emotions.
The brothers spent their teens traveling as semi-pro baseball players, but decided to pursue music after hearing Elvis Costello’s “Allison” and aspiring to write and sing songs with the same level of emotion. They have met their goal with their latest album.
With lyrical and musical influences such as Elvis Costello, Paul Simon, Jackson Browne, and Lennon and McCartney, and collaborations with members of bands ranging from Semisonic to Fleetwood Mac, the twins from Atlanta take classic songwriting and improve it with their own style. Many of their songs read like poems, and with their good looks and undeniable musical talent, Evan and Jeron are sure to be around for quite some time.
Bottom Line: Not just another pretty face (or two).
