The UCBA French Club, headed by Professor Jody L. Ballah, will be celebrating National French Month November 4-8.
On November 6, everyone is encouraged to join in the celebration in Walters Room 100 from 2-4 p.m. Activities will include an Eiffel Tower building competition, a sampling of French foods, and learning a French word or two.
Other activities of the club include periodic field trips to view French films at the Esquire or Mariemont theatres in Cincinnati, when such films are available. All films include English subtitles, and everyone is welcome to attend to join the club.
The next scheduled viewing will be of Haute Cuisine (Les saveurs du Palais), featuring Catherine Frot and Jean d’Ormesson.
Starting Thursday, Oct. 24 and continuing on Thursday’s the rest of this semester [or year?], the French Club will be working with the children at the Blue Ash Elementary School, where members will teach the children the basics of the French language.
Professor Ballah emphasizes that there is no requirement to join the club, just an interest to speak French and to learn about French culture, and she welcomes and encourages anyone and everyone to attend club events whether they are well-versed, intermediate, or beginners to the language.
For further information on any events or about joining the club, email Professor Ballah at jody.ballah@uc.edu. Says Professor Ballah, “Tout le monde à UCBA est le bienvenu!” (Everyone at UCBA is welcome!)
