Renovations of the one-story wing in Muntz Hall are set to begin soon.
These renovations will be done over the next year and should be finished by Fall Quarter, 2001.
Gene Kramer, RWC Director of Facilities Management, and his staff of 19 are taking measures to ensure the renovations will cause as little disturbance to student life as possible. The south side of the wing will be the first to undergo changes, including moving the library from the north side.
After the library has moved across the hall, the north end will be renovated to allow for a larger, more accommodating library. The library will then move back to the north side of the wing, and further construction will take place on the south.
When finished, the south side of the one-story wing will house a computer center, Disability Services, tutoring centers, a software lab, a mail and copy center, Computer Network Services, and the Maintenance Department.
The study centers in Muntz Hall, including the Writing Lab, the Study Skills Lab, and the Math Lab, will be moved to the south side of the wing.
Plans for future renovations are also underway. The college hopes to provide students with a one-stop student center, a refurbished bookstore, and a remodeled first floor.
The one-stop student center would allow for registration, testing, financial aid and other student resources to be housed in the same department.
These projects are slated to begin in the next few years.
