Making the next step: transferring to the downtown campus

Many students here at RWC are completing the first two years of a bachelors degree and plan one day after graduation to make the next step toward the downtown UC campus. Mickey deVise is one such student who has made that move, after working towards a degree in Library Technology here. Now she is heading towards a bachelor’s degree in history in Clifton.

A mother of two, deVise was a returning student at RWC and enjoyed her studies as she sees education as a privilege. “I learned confidence and discipline,” she says, adding that she found a sense of community within the classes.

Parking and construction, she feels, are the biggest obstacles to attending classes at main campus. Classes are spread out, so be prepared to walk. However, deVise enjoys the variety of classes offered at the downtown campus and has found a place to fit in as familiar students tend to reappear each quarter in classes that are specialized towards similar degrees.

Although the downtown campus size seemed a little overwhelming at first, deVise soon became more familiar with it as she discovered new areas with amenities for the students.

Her continuing journey moves deVise onwards and upwards in a school that will continue her road to a rewarding higher education.
