Gear up, all you young men and pretty young things, because come summer the little impish, winged boy, armed with bow and arrow, will be out there setting hearts on fire, on the Cupidtino website, hearts of Apple users to be precise. For the sublimely unaware, Cupidtino.com is a dating website exclusively for Mac and Apple fans! Yes, you heard right, a website for Mac and Apple fans. Slated to be up and running by June this year, Cupidtino will launch exclusively on Apple platforms-Safari, iPhone, and iPad apps.
“Meet an Apple fanboy or girl,” proclaims the Cupidtino.com website, and then it goes on to say, “Cupidtino is a beautiful new dating site created for fans of Apple products, by fans of Apple products! Why? Diehard Mac & Apple fans often have a lot in common-personalities, creative professions, a similar sense of style and aesthetics, taste, and of course a love for technology. We believe these are enough reasons for two people to meet and fall in love, and so we created the first Mac-inspired dating site to help you find other Machearts around you.”
Wow! That’s one unique compatibility meter! So, if there’s anyone out there who is a compulsive, obsessive Apple product user and is having difficulty finding a soul mate, don’t fret, because Cupid is on his way, or so it seems.
The credit for this “unique” idea goes to former Microsoft employee Mel Sampat, who left the company in March to launch his own mobile-apps company, and this website, of course. Imagine falling in love because both parties involved are proud owners of an Apple laptop or an iPhone!
Maybe Google can start another dating or matrimonial website for people who share a passion for surfing the net, or something of that sort, and then Microsoft can start another, and then maybe all of them can compete for the title of “most bizarre website in the world.”
Apparently, the inspiration for the name Cupidtino comes from, Cupid, the god of love, and Cupertino, California, the location of Apple headquarters. Reportedly, the website will be very different from other dating websites and will not ask the typical questions like your hobbies, your passion, etc. Instead the questions will focus on the ownership and use of Apple products.
If Percy B. Shelley were alive, he would have probably reworded his famous quote “Soul meets soul on lovers’ lips” to “heart meets heart in the Apple store.
