What a great turn out we had for the Election polls we held Friday October 8th. Over three hours we were able to poll several people for our small college election. As a small college we have a lot of people with a lot of different things they would wish to say. Just sitting at the table was a rather different experience for me. People of all ages wanted to come up to us and talk politics and discuss what is going on during this campaign. Teachers, Students and Faculty alike all had there impute into what they feel about this election. Of all there turned out that 27 people were very strongly for Bush and 5 undecided. My associate in this small project has the Kerry poll so read her article to see how that turned out.
Unfortunately with all of the papers we collected I cannot post everyone’s comments but I would like to post a few. Robert Montoya age 20 wrote, “Kerry has no idea how to fight this new type of enemy. He is thinking with old school mentality.” Jacob Blankenship age 22 wrote, “The democrats are making up lies such as the draft is going to be started. Kerry is twisting the facts and America is forgetting the threat we face.” A unnamed person that had a big view and could probably have written one of Bush’s ad says “As a Vet he betrayed his fellow soldiers, As a Catholic he betrayed his faith. As a candidate he has failed to stand firm on any issue. I don’t want him to betray the country.” Very strong words that seem to ring through a lot of our Students and Faculty. Amanda Jones age 18 says, “Who wants a president that can’t make a decision.” Rachelle age 19 says, “If you go to a public college why would you ever vote for Kerry?”
From those students and faculty that aren’t sure with who to vote don’t feel bad your not alone thousands of people don’t know who to vote for. Kristen age 19 says, “honestly my vote was going to Bush, however being an education major I recently heard he wants to cancel the special ed program putting special ed in normal classrooms. I don’t agree with this because I don’t think it’s fair to make these students feel less smart than others. However Kerry changes his opinion on everything. I can’t vote for someone who doesn’t stand for anything because he will fall for anything. Well Nader is throwing my vote away so to speak, so till the debates are over I don’t know.” We had one unnamed person claim that “I research each candidate and media influence is negative and untruthful.” With the debates being so serious I’d like to end this article with a fun comment on an unnamed voter who claims, “I would rather vote for my Cat.”
