13 Going on 30

When I was asked to go see Jennifer Garner’s new movie, “13 Going on 30,” I was less than thrilled, but I reluctantly agreed to go. I went expecting to fall asleep halfway through. To my surprise, I found myself laughing non stop and actually enjoying the film.
Going in I feared a remake of Tom Hanks’, “Big,” and while it is the same premise, Jennifer Garner made it her own and was outstanding. Moreover, there are also many differences between the two films.
The bottom line is that “13 Going on 30” is a definite must see for the kid in everyone, and for the adult-wanna-be in every kid. This is an enjoyable movie and a breath of fresh air from an unlikely source. Plus, (as an added bonus) the soundtrack is pretty good too. Who doesn’t want to hear Billy Joel, Madonna, Pat Benatar, Rick Springfield, Liz Phair, and so many others? They make you realize that the 1980s really had some of the best music you’ve ever heard in your life. And it is all packaged in a thoroughly enjoyable movie.
