On the Spot: Let the people decide on the minimum wage!

This is a continuation of my last On the Spot when I asked about how the minimum wage increases were in comparison to the rising price of living. Now I ask a different question: Where should the minimum wage be set to meet the needs and wants of out society? Explain your answer.

Jenny Hawkins

Any Salary or wage below poverty level is unacceptable if the employee is a hard worker that is punctual, determined, and does the work he/she is assigned.

Jamie Pettigrew

Probably $15 because at that rate, you would then be able to support yourself with a decent living arrangement.

Victoria Williams
I feel that the minimum wage should be set at $9. With the rise in cost of everything in our nation, it would be impossible to feel that someone could survive off of anything less.

I think the minimum wage should be $8. This is because there are, in fact, a lot of middle age workers in the field that have a lot of responsibility and probably kids to take care of. $7 will not provide all they might need to survive. That’s why they now work two or three jobs in order to maintain stability.
