College Study Skills: Don’t wait until it’s too late!

At this point in the quarter, many students have figured out that obtaining a higher education is serious business. It takes time, energy, and determination. The Study Skills and Reading Center is here to remind students that it is not too late to get help. We have two weeks left in our Workshop Solutions series. The topics will include note taking, concentration, memory, critical thinking, brain function, learning style, problem solving, and test taking. Students can also inquire about tutoring in these areas. All of the workshops and tutoring can be beneficial to preparing for finals or getting an edge on next quarter.

Speaking of next quarter, now is the time to think about registration. We will be offering four classes this spring. College Study Skills I is for students who need to learn methods and techniques necessary to study successfully in college. College Study Skills II and III are lab based independent studies that further increase learning and reading skills. In addition, College Reading is a perfect complement to Prep Composition or English Comp I. These classes can be found online at the One-Stop. Look for them under English in the spring class offerings.

Stop by the Study Skills and Reading Center, Muntz 112K, or call 745-5730 for questions and information. Don’t procrastinate!
