Music: Drake, Say Anything and Angels & Airwaves Perform in Cincy

Here are some noteworthy local shows, including Drake, Angels & Airwaves, and othersOn Sunday, April 24, Alternative/Indie Rockers Angels & Airwaves, with special guest Say Anything, played at Bogarts. Angels and Airwaves consists of drummer Atom Willard, guitarist David Kennedy, Bassist Matt Wachter, and lead singer/guitarist Tom Delonge. Angels & Airwaves formed in 2005, and their first album, “We Don’t Need to Whisper,” reached #4 on the Billboard 200 and went gold.

Say Anything hails from Los Angeles, California, and was formed in 2000. Consisting of Max Bemis (lead vocals), Alex Kent (bass), Jake Turner (guitar, backing vocals), Parker Case (keyboards), Jeff Turner (Guitar, Backing Vocals), and Coby Linder (drums).

Say Anything’s first album, “Junior Varsity EP,” was distributed in limited numbers. Only 200 to 300 copies were made. In 2002, Say Anything signed on to Doghouse Records and began recording “…Is a Real Boy,” eventually releasing their fourth album on RCA records.

On May, 28 actor/artist Drake will perform at Bogarts in Cincinnati. Tickets have already been flying off the shelf since they went on sale on April 23. Only at the beginning of his career, Drake has already worked with acts such as Eminem, Jay-Z, and Kanye West. His first studio album, “You Can Thank Me Later,” is expected to hit stores June 15.

On February 13, 2009, Drake released his third official mix tape, “So Far Gone,” for free on his blog site, which includes Lil Wayne and Bun B. Drake started his career as an actor on “Degrassi: The Next Generation” in 2001. He is the son of Sandi and Dennis Graham, a drummer who worked with such acts as Jerry Lee Lewis.
