A Guided Tour of the Vet Tech Building

Not many people are aware that we have a Veterinary Technology building right here on our campus. The building is very easy to miss.  Located in a corner of the back parking lot, the building is where a whole range of things take place for Vet Tech students.
On Wednesday of last week, I took a tour of the building with Dr. Jane Goecke as my host. She showed me where students get hands on training of domesticated animals, such as dogs and cats.
The students also learn about other animal care, such as horses and cows, and they actually go to locations where they can actively provide care for these animals.
In addition to the hands-on training in giving vaccines and providing dental care, surgery, spaying, and neutering of dogs and cats are also done in here.
The building also houses some live animals. They have cute dogs and cats, which live in very sanitary and clean conditions.  The students are responsible for taking care of these animals at the appropriate times, whether that is through washing or mopping.
By the end of my tour, I wanted to change my major from journalism to Vet Tech. If you are interested in UCBA’S Veterinary Technology program, contact Professor Goecke at (513) 936-1506.
