On October 22, students from the Educational Talent Search (ETS), a program offered by the University of Cincinnati Clermont College and funded by the U.S. Department of Education, visited the RWC Electronic Media Communications Department for a dose of media production.ETS participants consist of potential first-generation college students who are currently in grades 6-12 and in families who meet federal income guidelines.
The eMedia Department set up three stations to give the visiting students an experience of producing professional media.
They performed in front of a green screen for the video studio portion, recorded voice-overs in the audio studio, and created animated film strips at the direct animation station.
The 17 students were instructed by eMedia instructors (Pete Bender, Neil Sharrow, Bill Boyle, David Hartz, and H. Michael Sanders) and students (Jennifer Whitacre, Matthew Combs, Greg Whitacre, and Avi Levenson).
The content created will be produced as a final video package and given to the ETS students.
All ETS program services are free to students in participating schools, as they attend college preparatory monthly workshops, college visits, and cultural experiences not otherwise available to students.
The program serves the following Clermont County public middle and high schools: Batavia, Clermont North Eastern (CNE), Goshen, New Richmond, Bethel-Tate, Felicity-Franklin, Williamsburg, and US Grant Joint Vocational School.
