In April RWC held its annual Distinguished Awards ceremony. You man have read Aimee McLean’s article on Distinguished Faculty and Staff award winners Jim Cebula and Tom Minter in our previous issue. Due to hold ups with the photographer, we were unable to mention the three Distinguished Alumni Award winners from that evening. This year’s Distinguished RWC Alumni are Carol Fisher, Tom DeNoma, and Gregory Niesen.Carol Fisher, RN, MSN, MBA, LNCC, was nominated by her twin daughters Megan and Courtney Fischer. Carol has more than 23 years of nursing experience in areas of critical care, oncology, LTAC, neurology, psychology, and is the founder of FirmAnalysis, a legal nurse consulting company specializing in the assessment of medical events. She has taught BSN level nursing at Winston Salem State University. She has also been published in “Oncology Nursing Forum,” in the Jan.-Feb. 2005 issue. She is an active member of the American Nurses Association, a member of the North Carolina Nurse Association and is serving as a NCNA professional practice advocacy coalition liaison. She has also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and held various volunteer positions at her local high school one day a week.
Tom DeNoma is the Associate Vice-President of Nationwide Insurance. Tom is responsible for the building of the Specialty Health division for Nationwide Health Plans. Tom has headed the division since 2001 and has helped to generate $500 million dollars in revenue and $50 million in profit. He has served since 2004 on the board of the Vision and Vocational Center (VVC). He has also served in Jaycees organizations and served on the development task force for the greater Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce. Tom served as President of the RWC Student Tribunal from 1982 to 1984. He has received various professional and volunteer awards and honors, including the 2002 Nationwide Health Plans Achievement Award and Jaycees Award of Honor.
Gregory P. Niesen, C.P.A., is the President/CEO of New Richmond National Bank, New Richmond, Ohio. He is responsible for the operations and relations of a community bank with assets of $75 million, with six locations and 55 employees. He has strengthened and improved the credit administration and loan portfolio management and risk management of the bank. Thanks to his ongoing efforts, past-due loans were greatly reduced as well as a significant growth in assets, all within two years. Gregory has held various positions with other financial institutions, including Fidelity Financial of Ohio, Inc., Grant Thornton LLP, The Fifth Third Bancorp, and Aronowitz, Chaiken, and Hardesty C.P.A. Gregory has been a youth soccer coach and has served on the committee for the review and approval of septic systems loans.
