It may not be your traditional read, but I have stumbled upon a book that is worth a look if you are a fan. “Songs of Johnny Cash,” a book published in 1970, has a unique collection of pictures of Cash, June Carter, and one or two of Elvis Presley. The pictures in the beginning of the book are supplied with captions that outline Cash’s life, up to 1970. His collective works are included in the next section (as of 1970) and a year-by-year list of his awards are listed in the back, from ’56 to ’70.
There may exist a newer printing that shows all of his music, more pictures and his lifelong history of awards, but I found it interesting to look back and see the old pictures and imagine what it would have been like to tour with the great Johnny Cash.
