The Internet: “Epic Win FTW” Wins Epically

When human beings first dreamed the divine concept of the Internet, I doubt they imagined endless pictures of cute cats saying adorably misspelled phrases or videos of men getting whacked in the sack. Let’s face it. Farce comedy is in this year (and every year, forever). It was only a matter of time before websites took initiative and sifted through the lame pictures and boring videos to deliver only the very best to their lazy-as-heck audience.

One such website is epicwinftw.com. “FTW” stands for “For the Win” and if you don’t know what that means, you need to play more video games.

Anyways, this site is a bit crowded with ads, but it’s simple. You have a single column of featured photos or embedded videos complete with a source, an “Add to Favorites” button, buttons to share with Facebook, Twitter, or Digg It, and a comment section.

You’re probably wondering, “What types of images or videos are on this site?” Well, friend, the site says it perfectly: “Awesome Photos and Videos,” which can mean anything from the funny, goofy stuff the Internet is known for to the serious, artistic masterpieces of our generation. All of the content I’ve seen so far is safe for all ages.

Basically, people upload images and videos by selecting the Upload tab at the top of the main page. Anyone can do this and all you need to do is upload/link a photo or video, title/describe it, and attribute a name, source URL, and email. If it’s good enough, it’ll be posted.

The site lists contending photos and videos under the Vote tab, where visitors can rate them Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down in an attempt to get them featured on the main page.

If you like what you see and crave more, there are several threads of photos/videos with links at the top of the page. These are categories of specialized images/photos: Lolcats, Loldogs, Celebs, Look-Alikes, News, Sports, Graphs, FAIL Blog, and a link to their store.

Epicwinftw.com is a simple, easy-to-use website that’s ideal for killing time, whether you’re in class, bored at home, or browsing on your smart phone while you’re not at a computer. However, there is a lot of ad clutter. Luckily, there aren’t any pop-up ads and, because of this, I recommend you give it a visit!
