Library Updates Website and Allows Food and Drinks

The RWC Library has made two new major changes in its website and a major revision to its food and drink policy. The first website revision is the RWC Library Quick Search. This feature enables users to search for books and articles directly from the homepage.

You can virtually see everything that is available. Users can perform a keyword, author or title search. The tool conducts a simultaneous search of the Library Catalog and four major article databases: Academic Research Library, Academic Search Complete, Expanded Academic ASAP and Wilson OmniFile.

The second addition is the RWC Library News Blog, which highlights RWC Library resources, collections, services, news and events. Viewers of the blog can sign up to receive the RWC Library blog feed or feeds from some of the other UC libraries.

You can follow the RWC Blog by subscribing to its RSS feed so that you get an alert when a new blog entry is posted. If you’re unfamiliar with RSS feeds, view the RSS in Plain English by Commoncraft video first. Then follow the steps below to set up your feed subscription (these steps will vary depending on your feed reader):

1. Create a Feed Reader account like Google Reader or Bloglines.

2. Open your feed reader.

3. Choose the option to “Add a New Subscription.”

4. Enter the RWC Library Blog URL http://www.libraries.uc.edu/liblog/libraries/rwclibnews/.

5. You should now be able to read and receive blog posts.

Website revisions are not the only changes at the RWC Library. It has also established a new food and drink policy. “Food and beverages in securely closed containers are permitted except in the computer lab. Food deliveries are not permitted.”

The new policy was instated to open up the Library as a community space as well as a study space. More furniture has been added to reach this goal along with designated quiet and group study spaces.

The RWC Library hopes these new additions and features are very useful to students. Feedback is welcomed. Email any questions or comments to rwclibrary@ucrwcu.rwc.uc.edu.
