ARTrageous Saturdays Presents Lively Schedule

RWC, in partnership with the City of Blue Ash, announces the 2010-2011 ARTrageous Saturdays Series. ARTrageous transforms ordinary Saturday Mornings into adventures with performances geared toward children ages 3 to 10. The 2010-2011 lineup includes plays, puppets, circus acts, tap dancing, and more. On October 23, Circus Mojo will bring acrobats, jugglers, clowns, and tight-wire-walkers to the stage in a mini-circus. Audience members will be invited to participate in a short workshop following the performance so everyone may join the Mojo.

On November 20, “Peter and the Wolf” and “The Frog Prince” will be presented by The Frish Marionette Company. Hand-crafted puppets will act out Sergei Prokofiev’s tale of “Peter and the Wolf,” and the classic fairy tale “The Frog Prince,” set to the lively music of Dmitri Kabalevsky.

On January 29, Art Reach, a division of the Children’s Theatre of Cincinnati, will present “The Rockin’ Adventures of Peter Rabbit.” The group gives Beatrix Potter’s characters a modern musical makeover. Peter longs to escape the humdrum life in a rabbit hole. Through a series of escapades, Peter learns the importance of family and following your dreams.

On February 26, Madcap Puppets will present “Tales of Flight with the Brothers Wright.” Join Orville, Wilbur and Madcap’s giant puppets in this high-flying adventure filled with wings, dreams, and flying machines.

On March 19, the Shelley Oliver Tap Dancers and David Leonhard Jazz Group join forces to present “Tap and Jazz for Kids.” The groups will explore imaginative movement, rhythm, and melody in an educational and interactive presentation.

This project is partially supported by a grant from Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour, a program developed and funded by The Heinz Endowments; the William Penn Foundations; the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a stage agency; and The Pew Charitable Trusts and administered by Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation.

ARTrageous performances are held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Muntz Theatre, on the RWC campus. Parking is free. Five-show and three-show subscriptions are available for $20 and $13.50. Single tickets are $5 and can be purchased in advance.
