Fashion: what to wear this fall

While the fall season has arrived, it’s a bit hard to start putting on those itchy sweaters and snow boots when we’re still walking out of our houses into 90 degree weather. But the fact is that winter is indeed on its way, and to stay current on the fall fashions, here are a few tips on what to buy and what to stay very far away from.According to suite101.com, it is not a good idea to buy things that you only “like” the idea of owning; if you know that ten times out of ten you’ll never wear that purse/jacket/hat, save your money. It may look nice in the closet, but it is only collecting dust there.

Also stay away from items that you may find for a better price in another store; most college students past their freshman year should be pretty good at “bargain hunting.” Do, however, buy items that you know are easily affordable in your budget. The website also encourages buying clothing that “you simply can’t live without” or if you “haven’t seen anything else like it anywhere.”

Fall fashion advice for the guys: jeans are a must for the colder seasons, preferably ones without gaping holes. About.com recommends having at least one blazer or sports jacket in your closet for night outings, or just if you want to dress things up and stand out during the day. Blazers paired with a dress shirt and jeans give off an older, more sophisticated look. If you have an internship where jeans are prohibited, pinstripe pants and a manly cardigan are also a look fit just for fall.

However you choose to dress, make sure it’s affordable, cute, and comfortable. If it gets too cold in the classrooms, UC sweatpants and hoodies are always on sale in the RWC Bookstore.
