Angel Wilson of Madison High School was the winner of the first RWC Poetry Slam, held here on April 25. As the night began, the seats in Room 100 of the Science and Allied Health Building were packed, and people consumed every empty space there was to stand.
During the night, poem after poem was read, and each line was read with care. Scott Woods, the MC, brought pizzazz to the evening.
There were fifteen contestants who performed poetry aloud and five judges to judge them. There were two rounds of competition. The first round included all fifteen contestants. Then in the second the top eight competed.
With some laughter and some tears, everyone seemed to have a great time.
