Technology: Apple Unleashes iPhone 6 and iWatch

On September 9 in Cupertino California, Apple announced their new lineup of upcoming products.

The devices announced ranged from the newest edition of the iPhone (iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus), to the first edition of the Apple Watch, and even a new operat- ing system in iOS8.

The iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will surely be the most talked about as Apple made widespread changes in the design. Firstly, and maybe most importantly, the display size was upped to 4.7 inches on the new iPhone 6 and 5.5 inches on the iPhone 6 Plus.

This is a huge upgrade from the four- inch screen on the iPhone 5s. This screen size puts the iPhone on a level playing field with competitors like the Samsung Galaxy s5 and the HTC One M8.

The new iPhones also now have no noticeable edge, giving the phone a more seamless design. All these improvements must come at a cost though, and it looks to be around $649 for the iPhone 6 and $749 for the 6 Plus. Prices will be lower if you purchase a contract.

As of Monday September 15, the 4.7- inch iPhone 6 is advertised to ship within 7-10 business days, while the 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus will ship in 3-4 weeks.

Despite the price, all the new features make the iPhone an exciting product to look forward to.

Next up, we have the Apple Watch. Apple made a huge splash this year in an- nouncing the Apple Watch and showing their intent to compete with Samsung and their Galaxy Watch.

The watch comes with a flexible retina display, giving it a clear HD screen as well as the much needed flexibility you need in a watch.

The new Digital Crown technology will be the Apple Watch’s version of the old click wheel, giving you the ability to magnify the small screen and display any apps that you might have.

The watch comes in two styles, and iPhone users will be happy to hear that the Apple Watch will come with Siri as well. The watch will cost about $349 and will be in stores sometime early next year.

With these products and even more that were announced, this was Apple’s best announcement conference in years. Look for these items to start showing up on shelves later this month.
