The UCBA Writing and Study Skills Center is located in Muntz 112K. The Cen- ter is open Monday through Thursday 8 a.m.-8 p.m., Friday 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Sat- urday 12-4 p.m.
Full-time tutors in the Center are Eric Van Hoose, Peggy Strohmaier, Laurie Bai- lar, Daniel Sansing and Sharon Disher.
They can provide assistance with writing, reading, and study skills. They also provide access to resource materials, textbooks and handouts.
Reading tutors help improve reading strategies, vocabulary and comprehen- sion skills.
Critical and thinking skills can also be worked on in the Center upon request, helping students improve their study and reading skills in various classes.
All the Writing Center asks of stu- dents is that they have an idea of what they need help with before coming in. But it’s important to be on time. With appointments, if you are 10 minutes late, you forfeit your spot, if the tutor is help- ing a walk-in.
Stay tuned for the next issue for the details of the Scary Story contest to be held in October.
