If you haven’t visited Perezhilton.com yet, you’re in for a treat. This oh-so-funny blogger always has something to say about the celebrities we think we know so well. Hilton starts off dishing the dirt that you could find in your nearest tabloid, and then proceeds to give his input on how he feels about the situation. Whether it’s bashing, congratulating, or doing both with a lot of sarcasm, Hilton feels his opinions need to be shared with millions of fans all over the world. You either love him, or you hate him.
Perezhilton.com was launched in 2004 and is one of the top sites for celebrity news. Its cute pink background is friendly to all viewers. He posts new articles almost every hour, commenting on the latest celeb scandal. With every article, he includes a picture where often he’ll draw funny but sometimes crude doodles all over.
At the top, Hilton has the name of his site along with a catchphrase, “Celebrity Juice, Not from Concentrate,” and an animated picture of himself. He allows for comments and emails from everyone. He also broadcasts about celeb news, shares video clips, and even has his own online store.
Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr., who goes by the pseudonym Perez Hilton, started his career simply as a blogger. I never would have thought one could become famous from just gossiping and voicing opinions.
His blogging page instantly became popular and now has millions of viewers daily. Perez Hilton befriended Paris Hilton, the source of his nickname, and always has good things to say about her. He points out and praises her positive achievements, rather than a lot of other websites and magazines that constantly put her down.
Perez Hilton also stands up and speaks out against discriminatory behavior, especially homophobic remarks made by other celebs. So why is he dubbed such a bad guy? He’s giving the people exactly what they want to hear, juicy, hot celeb gossip that may or may not be true.
Many people comment on Perez Hilton’s articles on a regular basis. Some people say he is “immature and stupid,” but then again others love what he writes, and they go right along bashing or praising the stars with him.
Does he care too much? Quite possibly. He seems to worry about other people’s problems and drama rather than caring about his own life.
I stand on the border when it comes to viewing his site. I read Hilton’s stories and think they are funny. There’s nothing wrong with speaking your mind to whoever wants to listen. Then again, sometimes I think he goes too far. Visit the website and decide for yourself.
