The Study Skills Lab wants to be your friend

One valuable resource available to students at RWC is the Study Skills Lab found in Room 112K. According to Sharon Disher, an adjunct faculty member in the Lab, there are three main areas of focus that a student may wish to search out. The first is private tutoring for those who hope to better understand their subject.

The second is test reviewing, which is accomplished by requisitioning tests from professors.

The third includes 14 free workshops for students that focus in-depth on topics such as improving memory, critical thinking, and time management, among others.

A new feature initiated by Disher is the concept of “Snippets,” short study skill tips that are periodically sent via email to RWC professors to be made available for their students. Disher recommends that students ask their professors about them to see if they can’t make the college experience a little bit more enjoyable.

Also you might have noticed study skills standees distributed around the campus. On the standees, you may also find “take-a-tip” sheets available at your disposal.

Of course, it is at the students’ discretion whether or not to discover how the Study Skills Lab can improve their education, and, as Sharon Disher might point out, “You paid for us.
