Fate or chance encounter? That is the question “Serendipity” weaves through the tapestry of the story, whose setting is New York City. Two people meet in the glove department of Bloomingdale’s, and the attraction is immediate. They then test “fate” when Sara (Kate Beckinsale) writes her name and number inside of a book cover. Then Jonathan (John Cusack) writes his name and number on a five-dollar bill.
But without each other’s name and address, they part company and are forced to return to other relationships, both of which are soon to consummate in marriage.
However, a vague disquiet lingers. And both make a mad dash to find the other.
I really enjoyed this movie. It has all the romantic drama of a Frank Sinatra ballad from the 50’s. Therefore, if you and your significant other aren’t getting along, take her or him to see this flick. It’s better than flowers and a box of chocolates.
