On April 14-17, the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists (OSRT) held its annual meeting, with students and faculty of the RWC Radiologic Technology program attending. Of the twenty-four students who attended, five were first-year students, and nineteen were second-year graduating students. Class President John Meadows and Class Secretary Kelli Strick led student fundraising efforts to support the trip.
The meeting included contests among students from Ohio institutions. RWC student Jeremy Bradley won first prize in the Student Clinical Application category for his poster entitled “Functional MRI, the New Polygraph?”
“It was exciting,” Bradley commented on his experience in the competition. “I am the shy and quiet type, so I was out of my comfort zone speaking to a panel of judges. I remained calm and was comfortable with the knowledge I had and was able to answer their questions without any problems. I was surprised to learn that I had won, as I was up against some tough competition from all over the state, including two other classmates. It was an experience I will not soon forget.”
Bradley’s fellow RWC students Amy Turpin and Sarah Bleh also presented posters in the competition.
In the Quiz Bowl competition, a team of students competed for UC and placed third out of nineteen schools from Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, and Connecticut. Students on the team were Carl Christen, Tyler Hobbs, Amy Turpin, Sarah Begley, John Meadows, Heather Koenig, and Kelli Strick.
