Where do you go when a tornado strikes?

Tornado season is here. If there was a tornado while you were at school, where would you go to be safe? Most of you would you say, go to the safe spots in the building. However, what if no one could find these safe spots?

That was the problem that occurred on March 29, during a routine tornado drill on the RWC campus. Some of the teachers and students had no idea where to go during the drill.

It’s the right time of year to exercise safety drills such as this; however, not knowing where the safe spots are is a huge problem to many staff members and students if a tornado is to happen.

In Muntz Hall there are far more safe spots to go to than there are in SAHB. The safe rooms in Muntz are the following:

First floor: 119, 150A, 151A, 151B, 152, 154, 155B, 155C, 155D, 155E, 155F, 170, restrooms.

Second floor: 200, 217A, 217B, 217C, 243, 244, 245, 248, 251A, 251B, 251C, 251D, 252, 264, restrooms.

Third floor: 300, 302, 304, 310, 312, 313, 314, 316, 317, 319, 320, 321, 322, 325, 348, 349, 349A, 349B, 365, 366, and the restrooms.

As for SAHB the safe rooms are the following:

First floor: 103, 119, 149, 150, 180, 182, restrooms.

Second Floor: 262, restrooms.

Third Floor: 362, restrooms.

There is also additional information in the RWC Faculty Handbook. The tornado safe spots in the two buildings, SAHB and MUNTZ, are determined by the Blue Ash Fire Department and The American Red Cross.
