Full of spirit: Aimee McLean to receive Spirit of Community Award

At the University of Cincinnati Recognition Ceremony on May 20, RWC’s Aimee McLean will be receiving the 2006/2007 Spirit of Community Award. Acccording to the short biography to be read at the ceremony, she “exemplifies the highest ‘standard of contribution to student life both within [her] college and university community.'”

Aimee is an active student on the RWC Campus and is currently a Senator for the college as well as the College’s Student Government President. She is also the mother of two young children, and she was the Feature Student in the last issue of the Activist.

When approached, after receiving notification of her award, Aimee described herself as being very humbled by the announcement. “I am surprised by this recognition, but honored. I am glad to have had the opportunity to serve the students of Raymond Walters College.”

The Spirit of Community Award is part of the University’s Just Community Steering Committee that was founded by Vice-President Mitchell Livingston ten years ago. This committee promotes the values of civility, justice, freedom, openness, and many others [see website below ] to ensure that UC and the surrounding neighborhoods live as a caring and just community.
