Professor Lynn Davis to be honored with University Service Award

On Tuesday, May 1 at the All-University Faculty Awards ceremony, Raymond Walters’ own Professor Lynn Davis will be recognized for her efforts, receiving the Faculty Senate University Service Award. Professor Davis said she was honored by this award and believes that “it’s rewarding to see a difference by your actions, even if it takes awhile.”

Professor Davis has been an advocate for students and faculty not only at our own RWC but also at the uptown campus. She is currently the Student Government Faculty Advisor and has extensively worked with the Student and Faculty Senate at the uptown campus. She has served and still serves on many committees, including the new Student Affairs Committee.

Concerning her involvement, she stated that “I look at something, see that something and don’t sit back to wait on getting it done.” That attitude and drive on both campuses has led her to be recognized through this award.

She felt gracious and appreciative of this award, but also felt that her work has had other rewards as well, from working and meeting people across the University to being involved in governance, which, she says, has led to personal growth and knowledge.

On her work with Student Government, she feels that it is fun and rewarding. She has been able to get to know students better on a personal level and see them and be a part of their growth. She feels it to be inspiring.
