UCBA puts on French Film Festival
New festival features French movies--with English subtitles
The Tournees festival will be showing new french films on campus. The series is presented by the foreign language department at the Blue Ash campus and is a program of FACE (French American Cultural Exchange), in partnership with the French Embassy. But, of course, I know you’re probably thinking to yourself, I don’t speak french. Well, you don’t have to speak French to enjoy these French movies. The UC Blue Ash campus has made it easy by implementing english subtitles for all six of the popular movies that they’ll be showing for free and open to the public.
Jody Ballah, associate professor and who has secured a grant to support the film festival says,“This festival will bring interesting and provocative French films to our campus and offer the chance to view some of the best of contemporary French cinema – whether you’re already a connoisseur or this is your first French film.”
Each film will be followed by a post-screening discussion led by faculty members from UCBA, the University of Cincinnati, and Northern Kentucky University.
The films will be shown on Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm in Muntz Hall on the UCBA campus. The schedule began with the first movie, La Chambre Bleue (The Blue Room) on October 8. Please note that some films contain adult content and may be inappropriate for anyone under 18 years of age.
