Rihanna’s Iconic Style

When it comes to style and who people are most inspired by, there are many people who come to mind: J-lo, Kanye West, ASAP Rocky, Harry Styles, Kim Kardashian, Pharrell and many more, but in my opinion, Rihanna trumps them all. Now before you go trying to come up with a bunch of reasons why I’m wrong, allow me to explain why this is my opinion.

She is Daring  

Rihanna poses this very unique look, and we see that she looks good in almost anything. I've seen a bunch. Now, granted, there are other celebrities who are daring as well such as, Lady Gaga, Nicki Minaj, Erykah Badu and Miley Cyrus… but unlike the others I just mentioned, when Rihanna is daring she brings an elegance to it. For example, at the fashion icon award show, she wore a daring outfit. Although, others might think she’s just naked, there’s much more to the look then just that. The whole dress was made of thousands of crystals and complimented with the head scarf and the fur shawl made the look very Josephine Baker glam. 

She’s a “Gender Bender”

Rihanna doesn't necessarily classify herself as androgynous, but some of her outfits are very masculine and not something the typical women would wear. The thing is that even when she does this, it always has a touch of femininity about it. When wearing these sorts of outfit’s she’ll usually have on less makeup but with a bold lip color. This is what makes Rihanna style in a whole other lane from other celebrities, because while others have to show skin to get attention, Rihanna can be completely covered and still turn heads.

She's Versatile

Often times you’ll read an article about Rihanna’s style and they’ll talk about how she’s constantly switching up her style. What those journalists fail to realize is that; yes, some people switch up their style. But when it comes to Rihanna she hasn’t switched up. she has grown. She is much more comfortable and aware of who she is an artist and as a person now which in terms makes it appear that her style is different from when she was younger.

Rihanna has been recognized in many ways for her style and poise including the CFDA Fashion Icon award but many still discredit here because of some of her choices being too revealing or distasteful. I hope this article has changed your mind about some aspects of her style and that you'ss see that she’s not always just naked. In fact, she loves clothes.
