ARTrageous Saturdays Schedule Announced
UCBA last week announced the 2013-2014 season of ARTrageous Saturdays. The performing arts series for kids features a lineup of puppets, plays, marionettes, music, comedy, and more.
The series began on November 16, with "In Step," in which dancers from the Cincinnati Ballet provided a peek into the typical day in the life of a professional ballet dancer. They also performed excerpts from classical repertoire. Audience members had the opportunity to participate in the action and learn basic ballet positions.
The series continues on January 18, when juggler Matt Jergens will bring his fast-paced, high-energy show to the campus. He promises to use a variety of juggling props and household items to defy gravity.
On February 8, ArtReach will perform Charles Perrault's classic fairy tale "Sleeping Beauty." You know the story: an enchanted spindle curses Sleeping Beauty to one hundred years of sleep. Will anyone be able to save her? ArtReach is the touring division of The Children's Theatre of Cincinnati.
Finally, on March 15, Doktor Kaboom! will perform a comedic journey of increasingly spectacular, and often successful, experiments and demonstrations. Doctor Kaboom! takes the audience on an educational tour of the modern scientific method, using humor and comedy while demonstrating applications of the physical sciences.
ARTrageous performances are held at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. in Muntz Theatre.
