It's Time to Legalize Gay Marriage
"Faggot, Fruitcup, Lezbo, Dyke, Fun boy, Queer, Homo"-these are the terms that a lot of simple-minded people in today's society use to identify people who are homosexual. It's been the topic of debate: should gay marriage be legalized? The shallow, religious person will say no, and the open-minded, rationalist, and spiritualistic person will say yes.
When I was debating about how I felt about the issue, I asked myself, "What is marriage? What was it intended for?" I then realized that marriage was a religious cover-up.
In the Christian religion, it is a sin to have sex "before marriage," and the whole purpose of marriage is to pro-create. As long as you are married, it is more than acceptable to have sex, but if you are not, it's frowned upon.
Therefore, thinking in a religious mindset, because a homosexual pair of either female or male gender cannot pro-create, they have no need to have sex. But when you think about things now, as humans, we don't just have sex to reproduce.
The media has realized that "Sex Sells," and everything down to bare-skin condoms are available for contraception. That is exactly why my opinion is validated. Because the times have changed, society has to realize that everyone's morals and values have changed over the past few decades.
Who are we to judge? In some cases, people may tend to be more comfortable dating those members of the same sex because of a past trauma or bad experience. I, for one, think that it should be legal for a homosexual pair to be able to get married only because I believe in marriage a more spiritualistic way.
If two people truly love each other and want to be together, who is anyone or the government to stop them?
