My World: Winter Break and Wanderlust
Ahhh, midterms are over, and there are only about six weeks of school left in fall semester.
For some of us, graduation is just right around the corner. Everyone else is just ready for winter break.
Winter break is an excellent time to plan a trip-if you're going somewhere warm, that is. For me winter break just means sleeping in and picking up more shifts at work.
Christmas loses its spunk when you become an adult and are living an hour or more away from mom and dad, and, if you are like me, the only trips you are daydreaming about are far off into summer break.
Most summer vacations are spent somewhere south of Ohio, such as Florida's Keys, the Bahamas and near Mexico. I have always preferred to go out West. So this year, I'm going to San Francisco, and I'll be sure to wear some flowers in my hair (major pun intended).
My dream since I was a little girl was to visit the Redwoods and of course Yosemite, the most beautiful park in North America.
If you don't believe me, you must check out some of Ansel Adams's photography. He grew up in Yosemite, capturing all of nature's magnificent glory at the very best moments possible.
My family always makes sure to take a big trip every two years, and this summer will be full of great adventures.
Even if you can't afford to take such a big trip, I highly recommend going just a few hours south at least to experience the mountains we have on the east side of the country.
When we don't go on big trips, my family always makes a few trips down to the condo in Somerset, Kentucky, to relax at Lake Cumberland.
There are plenty of places to take a trip to that are within a few hours of Cincinnati. Go and see the world! One day you will feel the wanderlust, the moment you start to explore.
