Laptop Requirement
Could you see the day coming where one major needs one type of laptop? Well, this is the day that we never saw coming. The University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College (UCBA) is now requiring MacBook Pro laptops for all Art & Visual Communication and Electronic Media Communications majors.
Each computer should have 4 GB of RAM, 750 GB hard disk drive, SuperDrive 8x DVD-ROM drive, Mac OS Xv10.6 or higher and finally, should have AppleCare Protection Plan.
The question is, what if students already have computers from previous years? How are these students going to pay for these since these computers are so expensive?
If a student already has a MacBook Pro they must fit the above requirements. If you are a student that does not have a MacBook Pro at the moment, then you must speak to a technical staff member to see if your computer would be adequate to complete the coursework for these majors.
The cost of the computers varies from $1,899 to $2,749. The AppleCare Protection Plan is an additional $349.
UCBA worked out a deal with Apple that if you go to UCBA you will receive $100 off your selected computer. You can also receive financial aid for your laptop too, depending on your financial aid requirements.
