The Disabilities Office Can Change Your Life

The UCBA Disabilities Services Office (DSO) is located in the far right corner of the computer concourse on the first floor of Muntz across from the library.
Like all public institutions, UCBA is required by the federal government to provide reasonable accommodations to otherwise qualified students. "Otherwise qualified" means that the student must be able meet the essential requirements of their individual program.
The DSO works with students who can show documentation of their disability and request that an accommodation be made. Many students that may not think they would be able to find or qualify for assistance through the DSO may find, as I did, that there are simple ways to make college a little easier.
Something as simple as taking a test in a quiet room with a little extra time can make a huge difference.
The office is staffed by caring, empathetic professionals. John Kraimer is one of those professionals. He is one of the most inspirational people that I have ever met. He is an artist, a musician, an amazing poet, and he loves to sky dive, and did I mention that he is quadriplegic?
Thirty minutes with him changed what I view as disabled.
Any student who comes to his office looking for help will find not only help, within the parameters of his position, but also an inspiration that can change your life.
