Commuting to UCBA?
I-75 and other drivers stress students
"It's not so much the driving itself, it's the other drivers," says Arielle Corcoran, a non-traditional nursing student at UCBA. "I-75 is always so backed up, and drivers constantly cut me off. It's a lot of pressure. I have to leave an hour before school to take a 20 minute drive," she explains.
Corcoran is just one of the hundreds of UCBA students experiencing pressure from the commute to school. I went out and asked several students if they feel any pressure from having to drive to school, and Corcoran was one of the many who gave complaints about I-75 especially.
UCBA is a commuter campus, which means that the campus does not have housing or dorms, and all students are forced, in some way, to travel to school each day. Most students drive themselves, which causes congestion on the two major highways surrounding UCBA (I 75 and Ronald Reagan Highway) and fills up the parking lots within the first few hours of the day.
Other students are either dropped off by their parents, car pool, or take the Metro Bus, which offers a direct ride from Main Campus down in Clifton up to the Blue Ash campus, and vice versa, and nearly all of the students that I talked to have experienced some form of pressure from the drive to school.
Ethan York, a second year liberal arts student, had this to say: "It's the same pressure that I get from driving anywhere. Going to the grocery store, visiting my grandparents, anything - driving to school is the same kind of pressure. You just gotta do it."
