My World: Hip-Hop is Not What It Used to Be
Remember back in the 90's when Hip- Hop was really poppin? We had Tupac, Biggie, Ice Cube, and Snoop Dogg-four mainstream rappers who always knew how to get the party started.
Back in the 90's hip- hop wasn't just about girls and money. It was about life and things that happened in childhood, real stories. Every song was different. Nothing was the same.
Hip-Hop was alive then, but now it seems as if people are forgetting what it really is. Nowadays it's just the same old music. Sometimes I catch myself just turning off the radio or putting in a CD with old jams on it.
There are very few people who are still passionate about Hip-Hop anymore. Every day a new artist comes out with the same styles as everyone else, not bringing anything new to the table.
Yeah, I still listen to the music that's being played on the radio, but in reality I don't want to hear it. I would much rather listen to something that's more real and not someone who's just rapping about something they never even lived.
I remember "Rap City: Tha Basement." I would come home every day to watch what new songs were out, dancing in my room until the show went off. Now those shows are gone, and they took the real Hip-Hop with them.
It's amazing, how, when you grow up, you look back and wish you still experienced what you experienced back then. I wish Hip-Hop now was what it was back then.
Maybe Montell Jordan could show some of these rappers that this is how we really do it. Hip-Hop used to be my best friend!
