Why Be on Campus if You're Not in Class? Maybe to attend Student Life events!

As I walked onto the campus of the University of Cincinnati Blue Ash College as a brand new student, my heart was bursting with excitement as I passed all the classmates I would soon get to know. With 5,084 students enrolled I knew for a fact that I would make new friends, and quick. What I didn't comprehend when signing up for classes for the first time is that I was going to go to class, listen to the teacher for fifty minutes and then go home. I wasn't going to do much interacting with classmates or partner work. Not to mention that this is not main campus meaning that no one resides here or stays here when it is not necessary.

One of many reasons students have for starting school is to encounter people with the same interests and hobbies as themselves. If this is one of your goals, attending Student Life events is a great way to go. The goal of Student Life, stated by Marcus Langford, is "to provide opportunities to engage with one another through faculty and staff." They take the time to coordinate events to assist students connect with one another and with the university. On May 23rd, Student Life will be hosting a Spring Fling event where food will be provided along with entertainment, karaoke, games, and giveaways. The Spring Fling will be held at the UC Blue Ash College campus.

Carnival's not your thing? That's okay! Student Life offers many diverse events targeted towards students with different interests. Maybe you have an idea for an event you'd like them to coordinate. Marcus Langford and the Student Life Department welcome your ideas or suggestions for events on campus. There's also the Campus Activities Board, which is a student run program. They have planned an event the http://sarah.meagher@uc.edu2nd of May on campus that is open to all students. Any student can join the Campus Activities Board, if you are interested, or you'd like to learn more contact Sarah Meagher at sarah.meagher@uc.edu.

Maybe you've never been a person to go to school-run events. Heck, I hated high school and if I was not required to go to something that was affiliated with the school, I wasn't going to go. But this isn't high school! We all chose to be Bearcats, and our lives are going to improve by attending Student Life events. That's why we all signed up, right? So join others who have a love for the UC and UCBA campuses - you never know who you'll meet or what other programs you will learn about.
