Allied Health Offers Pet Emergencies Course

The Allied Health Department will be holding classes this May to teach people the skills needed to save their dogs' lives in case of an emergency. The class will be held on Friday, May 4, 2012 and Friday, May 11, 2012 from noon until 4 pm. The classes are open to the public and will be held in the Blue Ash College Annex Building at the intersection of Cooper Road and Plainfield Road.

The class will help teach people techniques that may save their pets. The course will cover everything from how to perform CPR on dogs to how to control bleeding as well as how to provide first aid. Participants will use manikins of dogs to practice CPR.

Anyone interested in this excellent opportunity should call (513) 936-1631 to register. However, you should call soon because the Allied Health Department will only be able to accommodate ten people per class.

Participants will have to pay $35 per person to learn these lifesaving skills. The cost of the class will cover the instructor's fees and some will be donated to Circle Tails. Nevertheless, $35 is a small price to pay to learn such valuable information.

The Allied Health Department has been planning on offering this course for a long time. It is being organized by an adjunct faculty member who is working on her capstone project for her Bachelor's Degree.

The class will be led by an instructor from the group Circle Tail located in Pleasant Plain, Ohio. This group provides service dogs for people with disabilities, as well as obedience training and dog adoption. Additionally, Circle Tail offers behavior management, educational programs, and boarding services. Circle Tail is a wonderful non-profit organization.

The Allied Health Department may decide to offer this class every year if there appears to be a lot of interest in it. Moreover, this unique class may be open to the community in the future so even more people can benefit.

The pet emergency course is sponsored by the UCBA Allied Health Department-EMS and Circle Tails. This course is an example of one of the many great opportunities that are offered to UCBA students and faculty and is definitely worth your time and money even if you do not have a dog.
