On October 7, students and faculty from the UCBA Veterinary Technology Program participated in United Pet Health Day at Francis Seraph Church in Over the Rhine. The event was held to help an economically depressed community provide check ups for their pets at no cost.
By the end of the event, the amount of animal lovers and community members with pets totaled up to 138 families, which resulted in 208 animals (152 dogs, 56 cats) who were served.
All pets were given health exams, parasite control, medications when needed, and pet food in a mini food drive (courtesy of the August A. Rendigs, Jr. Foundation, the Kroger Company, and PAWS Shelter in Middletown).
Other volunteers came from Delta Airlines and the United Pet Fund.
The United Pet Health Day was sponsored by the United Pet Fund, with hosts from St. Francis Seraph Church. The vaccines were provided by Pfizer Animal Health and United Pet Fund.
