Never Too Late to Turn It Around For UC Baseball
Bearcats baseball has seen better years. It goes without saying that the baseball team has struggled, but talking to freshman relief pitcher Grant Walker, who like me is a Northmont High School Alum, you would never know they were having a down year.
I met up with Mr. Walker and asked him a few questions regarding this season so far and what he's looking forward to next year.
Struggling late in the season, how do you guys hope to finish the year?
Man it's sort of been a rough year but year but still a lot of fun, and that's how we plan on keeping it. We realize that we haven't been playing quite like we should have but what we really don't want to do is go ahead and bow out. So we're out there playing hard and enjoying every second.
What was your favorite moment of this year?
My favorite part about this year was playing against Ohio State. I mean I enjoyed coming to Cincinnati and getting to play Big East baseball but to play against a team, and have it be on national television, it was surreal. Truly my favorite moment.
In what area do you think you need to improve on?
I'd say just working on my fastball. Just trying to do these things would help me but also improve the play of my team. I'd really do anything that would help them out. So anything to help the team as a whole, I'm willing to do.
What does next year look like for the Cincinnati Bearcats?
Man...you know the goal every year is to win the Big East but it starts early and we have to take care of every little detail. But next year, yeah hopefully we win Big East and possibly get a bid to play in the College World Series. I as long as the entire team have big hopes and expectations for next year.
