Time to get noted for YOUR work
UCBA holds Service Fair
People volunteer, but how do they get recognized for their deeds? Starting Feb.1, join the many volunteers at the inaugural UCBA Service Fair. It's 11a.m. - 1 p.m. When you go they will tell you about how to get involved in your community and they will also talk about how you can get rewarded for your work.
UCBA now gives away the President's Volunteer Service Award, which is a national honor award for those who offer their time to volunteer for the good of others. This award is given away by the President of the United States to those who have happily helped and volunteer during a 12 months period. UCBA has the power to get people involved, verify their hours and give out the rewards. To qualify, volunteers simply must submit a record of their service hours completed September 1 through August 31 on www.presidentialserviceawards.gov using the University of Cincinnati Raymond Walters College organizational code GWL-46470.
Do you volunteer for your community and want to get a bit of recognition for it? Do you want to start volunteering for your community but you're not sure how? Do you want to earn recognition for your work that will look great on a resume? This program can help.
Many people, including the staff at UC Blue Ash, volunteer in their area by help teaching science, technology and foreign languages to local elementary schools and they also help people with developmental disabilities, assisting them with their various health problems. These volunteers work hard and they get rewarded for it.
I know a lot of people feel that there must be some catch to it like you can only get awarded for the programs that are sponsored by University of Cincinnati Blue Ash. That is not true. You are not limited to UC Blue Ash volunteer activities only. You can gain the hours by doing any volunteer work throughout the year. This is a great reward to easily earn for those who are already volunteering in your community. The only requirement for the reward is that you have to have the hours needed with the 12 months you volunteer.
There are three levels of the award you can receive based on the hours of service completed within a 12-month period:
Kids - 14 and younger
Bronze Award 50 - 74 hours
Silver Award 75 - 99 hours
Gold Award 100 or more hours
Young Adults - Ages 15 - 25
Bronze Award 100 - 174 hours
Silver Award 175 - 249 hours
Gold Award 250 or more hours
Adults - Ages 26 and up
Bronze Award 100 - 249 hours
Silver Award 250 - 499 hours
Gold Award 500 or more hours
Families and Groups (two or more people)*
Bronze Award 200 - 499 hours
Silver Award 500 - 999 hours
Gold Award 1,000 or more hours
*Each member contributing at least 25 hours towards the total
Those who have 4,000 or more of volunteer service hours over the course of their lifetime are eligible to receive the President's Call to Service Award.
It's very easy to do. All you have to do is just volunteer some of your time to those who are indeed of it. Many people enjoy it and continue to do it year after year. So what are you waiting for get you work gloves on and come on down. Help the community and show a bit of love.
