Course Withdrawal Deadline Approaching
November 1 marks the absolute deadline for withdrawal from Fall Semester Classes, UCBA Associate Dean Marlene Miner announced last week. Students can withdraw online or by submitting to One-Stop a withdrawal form signed by both the student and the professor.
Either way, the professor may assign a "W" (which does not affect your GPA but will appear on your transcript) or the professor may assign an "F."
"Always talk to your professor before withdrawing," Miner said. "Not only is this common courtesy, but also your professor will tell you if he or she approves a 'W.' In some cases, the professor may want to discuss your reasons for withdrawing and can advise on the wisdom of that choice."
If you withdraw online, you will receive an email notification. Watch for this, and, if you do not receive it, check with One-Stop to make sure the withdrawal did go through. Give yourself enough time. Don't wait until November 1, if you really want to withdraw.
"If you do not officially withdraw but stop attending," Miner added, "your professor must assign a grade of UW, which counts as an F. When considering withdrawing from a class or classes, always check to see how that affects your financial aid."
