Dean's Advisory Board Brings Community Involvement

The UCBA Dean's Advisory Board held its first meeting on October 4.
The Dean's Advisory Board, which meets three times an academic year, consists of 24 members from the college and surrounding areas who facilitate communication between the college and the community while identifying and serving the needs of those within UCBA.
Community members are Superintendent of Norwood City Schools Rob Amodio; Government and Community Relations of Duke Energy Marvin Blade; Director of Demand Planning and Customer Logistics for Sunny Delight Beverages Company Audrey Brown; Denise Driehaus; Tony Esposito of Ohio National; William Freedman; President and CEO of Wornick Foods Jon Geisler; Veterinarian Dr. Jeff Grady; President of Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center Julie Holt, RN, MSN; Superintendent of Sycamore School District Adrienne James; President Emeritus of Champion Windows Don Jones; North American Regional Manager of Professional and Scientific Relations for Procter & Gamble Company Ivan Lugo; Divisional Senior Vice President of Human Resources at Mercy Health Maggie Lund; Senior Vice President of Investments at Merril Lynch Wealth Management W. Troy Neat, CFP; CEO of La VERDAD Mike Robinson; Carol Sanger; Blue Ash Mayor Mark Weber; and President and CEO of Great Oaks Career Campuses Robin White.
Members from within UCBA include Dean Cady Short-Thompson; Director of Development Meredith Delaney; Director of College Relations Pete Gemmer; Director of the Center for Corporate Leadership Joyce Wagner; Faculty Executive Committee Chair Sarah Cummins-Sebree; alumnus Joshua Goodman, JD; and student Sam Naser.
Director of College Relations Pete Gemmer addressed the new UCBA website that will launch on October 22. This new page will be more visually appealing and user friendly for current and perspective students, he said.
Center for Corporate Learning Director Joyce Wagner covered the new Career Center and the Internship Bootcamp program that aims to help business and economics students gear up for real world work experiences.
New student support services, such as Veteran and Multicultural Affairs, enrollment plans and recruitment strategies were also addressed.
One of the board's main focuses is branding UCBA. Their ultimate goal is to enhance Cincinnati pride and show students and the community that UCBA is an integral part of the University of Cincinnati as a whole.
The next meeting will be held on February 7, 2014.
